Hilleberg the Tentmaker, founded by Bo and Renate Hilleberg in Sweden in 1971, exclusively designs and manufactures the highest-performance backpacking and mountaineering tents and shelters. The company’s innovations and designs have set examples throughout the industry, and Hilleberg tents are often chosen for polar expeditions and big mountain climbs, by military special operations units, and by backpackers and mountaineers around the world. Hilleberg remains family owned and operated.
Bo and Renate’s daughter, Petra, founded Hilleberg USA in 2000, in Redmond, Washington, and has grown it from a one-woman start-up to an established player in the US outdoor market. Hilleberg USA handles all Hilleberg business outside Europe, including warehouse and logistics operations for shipments to all parts of the world, and is responsible for Hilleberg marketing worldwide, including the company’s website; the company’s annual catalog, The Tent Handbook; and all advertising and video production. As CEO of the Hilleberg Group, which oversees all company operations worldwide, including the Swedish and US offices and the Estonian manufacturing operations, and as president of the both the Swedish and US divisions, Petra runs the entire company from the Redmond offices.
