The Embassy of Sweden in Washington DC is one of Sweden’s largest missions and serves as the official link between Sweden and the United States. In addition to the Embassy, and the approximately 30 Swedish consulates throughout the US, Sweden is also represented by Swedish artists and companies, as well as the many inspiring people who are involved in Swedish-American
organizations.

The Embassy covers a range of policy issues, including climate and sustainability, trade, security and democracy, gender equality, freedom of speech, and culture. The consular section of the Embassy provides Swedish-citizen services and assists with passports, visas, and travel advisory. The section also provides consular services to Swedish citizens in case of an emergency or crisis.

The Embassy building, House of Sweden, located on the Potomac River, is the proud home to the Embassy’s public-diplomacy theme programs. Approximately 30 000 people visit House of Sweden annually to attend Embassy seminars, concerts, exhibitions, meetings, and family events. In 2020, the Embassy expanded its virtual programming to provide exciting new experiences for
a wider audience.
